UNDER THE SEA THEMED WEDDING RECEPTION AT IXL EVENTS CENTRE

From a helicopter arrival to one of the largest cakes IXL has ever seen, this underwater-themed wedding was a bold, immersive celebration where every detail left a lasting impression.

AN IMMERSIVE DECOR EXPERIENCE 

The vision from the family was clear: a world beneath the waves. For us, that meant embracing flow

and using soft shapes that felt natural and fluid. 

We brought this vision to life in every corner of the venue. The stage featured a custom-built, curved backdrop that mimicked rolling waves, lit with LED strip lights to create a shimmering, water-like effect. Surrounding it, florals intertwined with handmade mermaid tails, shells, and oversized seahorses for a playful, immersive touch. 

Guests entered under a grand floral arch at the start of the walkway, designed to echo crashing waves, which extended onto a bespoke printed aisle that carried the water motif all the way to the dancefloor.

The tables lining the walkway followed an

S-shaped layout, reflecting the gentle flow of water, while the centrepieces varied in height and shape, some even featuring flower-drenched water fountains. 

Every detail, from the mix of tablecloth colours and candle types to small seashell props and framed ocean photos, was carefully curated to make guests feel fully submerged in this underwater world.

A HELICOPTER ENTRANCE AND COLLABORATION OF TOP SUPPLIERS

The night was full of unforgettable moments that kept guests on their toes.

The bride and groom made an iconic entrance by arriving in a helicopter, an unexpected thrill that immediately set the tone for the evening.

Guests were also treated to stunning performances by dancers from Angel Dancers, while culinary delights from Sanjay Foods and an exquisite cake by Asian Wedding Cakes added

to the sensory experience.

Collaborating closely with the teams at IXL and Kudos, every element from visuals and

lighting to music and entertainment was carefully put together to ensure the evening felt magical,

cohesive, and truly one-of-a-kind.

When planning an immersive themed event like an underwater wedding reception, it helps to break the process into manageable sections.

Before anything else, take note of the room itself, especially the ceiling height, wall colours, and flooring. These can either support your vision or require extra décor to disguise.

Once you understand the space, move on to the “big stuff”: your colour scheme, the main décor pieces, the number of tables, the types of centrepieces, and standout elements like the stage design. 

From there, shift your attention to florals. They bring the theme to life by adding texture, depth,

and varying heights, and using the same flowers throughout the walkway, tables,

and stage creates a cohesive flow. 

Finally, focus on the little details, the pieces guests may not notice right when they walk in but will appreciate once they’re seated. Play around with a mix of chair styles, linen colours, candle types,

and small decorative props, they all come together to complete the look. 

One important tip: colours can appear very different under production lighting than they do in daylight, so always consider how your palette will read once the full setup is in place.
